This is the first teapot I have attempted making using the wheel. There was a lot that I learned during the construction of this piece.
Most things made on the wheel are mostly pretty quick and can take one or two classes to finish, but this teapot was a piece I have been working on for weeks.
It was definitely a challenge for me as I have never done anything that takes so many steps in creating and that is why it interested me.
I used a blue glaze for the teapot and cup that goes a long with it.
I have not seen the finished piece yet so I cant fully judge it but, what I would do differently would be to
make it a little larger and spend more time on trimming. Other than that, I think It has turned out pretty well so far.
The artist that I got my inspiration from was, Florian Gadsby. He is a man from London who is relatively new to ceramics but makes very professional work.
Gadsby's work is very intricate proper and through his work you can see the amount
of time that goes into it. Gadsby spent 6 months as an apprentice in Mashiko, Japan where he learned most of his skills.
I would say that for most of the things I make, I have some inspiration from Gadsby.
